A Special Day for Olivia and Hornsea URC
On Sunday 21st of June, Megan Tilbrook – Yorkshire Synod’s Children and Youth Practitioner, presented Olivia with the URC’s Lundie Award in recognition of her contribution and service to the church. Along with this came a payment of £100 – “to be spent through your church or synod on something of your choosing to benefit children and young people in your church, synod or community”.
Olivia has chosen to run a Holiday Club in the summer holidays ‘All Aboard’ for school aged children in years 2 to 5 – much to the delight of many of our congregation who have fond memories of previous Holiday Clubs!
Olivia has put in a lot of work already, planning the programme/logistics of each session and designing the poster.
She now needs the help of our church fellowship to:
- Tell people about the event.
- Offer help in leading a craft, cooking or games session (already planned).
- To be a ‘behind the scenes’ tidier/sorter of ‘stuff’ after activities.
- Work with small groups of youngsters to help them engage with activities.
If you are able to offer help in and way, could you let Olivia, Margaret K or email and let them know what day(s) and time(s) you are available. (Also, if you have a DBS could you indicate the level).
Finally, can you hold this venture in your prayers – for the youngsters who will attend, the leaders of the sessions and the sharing of God’s love.
